The map below illustrates how median housing prices vary throughout Jefferson County. This map reflects 2000 U.S. Census data and therefore underestimates current median house values. However, it is the most current assessment that includes data to the census tract level. Census data were processed by Kentucky Population Research of the University of Louisville's State Data Center to reflect median house values in Louisville Metro Council Districts and in each county in the Louisville KY-IN MSA. For the most recent median house values for the Louisville KY-IN Metropolitan Statistical Area, see the National Association of Realtors' quarterly report on house values for states and metropolitan areas, available online at www.realtor.org/Research.nsf/Pages/MetroPrice.

More information on this topic can be found in a report by the Joint Center for Housing Studies of Harvard University and the Center for Workforce Preparation of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Strengthening Our Workforce and Our Communities Through Housing Solutions, available online at www.jchs.harvard.edu/publications/markets/workforce_housing_report.html.

"Kosair Children’s Hospital data indicate that twice as many African American children in Louisville Metro make emergency room visits due to asthma as white children."
